Use Contests and Giveaways to Increase Conversion

The Power of Giveaways

You finally have the traffic flow that you have been waiting and hoping for! Still, you struggle with converting those visitors from prospects to buyers of your product. How can you get them to stay and buy? Today's marketing tip is to use the power of the giveaway.

A giveaway is something that you allow other people to have free of charge. You can use something that is physical like a product (pens, buttons, t-shirts, etc.), but it can also be something that does not have to be shipped. It could be something like an e-book or even a service or consultation. The thing you want to keep in mind when setting up a giveaway contest is you want to giveaway is --

  • something that is relevant to what you are selling or blogging about
  • something that is of value to someone else
The purpose of holding this type of contest is dependent on the type of business that you run. For those that are in e-commerce, the purpose would be to entice the seller to purchase your products or services. For those that are more part of e-marketing and blogging, the purpose would be to collect an email address or phone number so that they are added to a subscription list. No matter what the reason for holding the contest, there are definitely qualified leads that are on the fence that will get that little shove by wanting what is offered by the giveaway contest.

What should I give away?

Now, what things should you giveaway? 

From what I have found that works the best is giving away an e-book in exchange for a user's email address. In most internet marketing and e-commerce, people do not mind providing their information if they can get something that provides them valuable information that they can take away and apply to their everyday or work life.

The other thing that I love to see is giving away wearable products. T-shirts are usually the easiest thing to give away and also promote your business through word of mouth as well. 

"Where did you get that shirt, John? What does it mean?"
"Oh! I got it from ABCCompany."
"Cool! What do they do?"

AND BAM! You just added one more pre-qualified visitor to your website! Of course, this type of contest would take a bit of investment and sometimes you will not be able to offer the product to each and every visitor. You are still able to make this a contest where each week/month/quarter you choose a "lucky winner" that receives the free item. In turn, also ask them to post on your blog or website about their experience with what product they won and what exactly they use your product/service/web information for. You increase your credibility, your traffic, your sales, and your income!

It can't get better than that!
