Use Contests and Giveaways to Increase Conversion

The Power of Giveaways

You finally have the traffic flow that you have been waiting and hoping for! Still, you struggle with converting those visitors from prospects to buyers of your product. How can you get them to stay and buy? Today's marketing tip is to use the power of the giveaway.

A giveaway is something that you allow other people to have free of charge. You can use something that is physical like a product (pens, buttons, t-shirts, etc.), but it can also be something that does not have to be shipped. It could be something like an e-book or even a service or consultation. The thing you want to keep in mind when setting up a giveaway contest is you want to giveaway is --

  • something that is relevant to what you are selling or blogging about
  • something that is of value to someone else
The purpose of holding this type of contest is dependent on the type of business that you run. For those that are in e-commerce, the purpose would be to entice the seller to purchase your products or services. For those that are more part of e-marketing and blogging, the purpose would be to collect an email address or phone number so that they are added to a subscription list. No matter what the reason for holding the contest, there are definitely qualified leads that are on the fence that will get that little shove by wanting what is offered by the giveaway contest.

What should I give away?

Now, what things should you giveaway?

From what I have found that works the best is giving away an e-book in exchange for a user's email address. In most internet marketing and e-commerce, people do not mind providing their information if they can get something that provides them valuable information that they can take away and apply to their everyday or work life.

The other thing that I love to see is giving away wearable products. T-shirts are usually the easiest thing to give away and also promote your business through word of mouth as well.

"Where did you get that shirt, John? What does it mean?"
"Oh! I got it from ABCCompany."
"Cool! What do they do?"

AND BAM! You just added one more pre-qualified visitor to your website! Of course, this type of contest would take a bit of investment and sometimes you will not be able to offer the product to each and every visitor. You are still able to make this a contest where each week/month/quarter you choose a "lucky winner" that receives the free item. In turn, also ask them to post on your blog or website about their experience with what product they won and what exactly they use your product/service/web information for. You increase your credibility, your traffic, your sales, and your income!

It can't get better than that!

How to Create Unique Content and Its Importance

Internet marketing is one of those niches that is very easy to enter, but very hard to maintain. There are so many websites and self-help blogs out there that suggest marketing strategies, but there are very few that tell you why unique content is important and how to create it.

What is Unique Content

Have you ever run into a campaign where people are merely copying and pasting the content onto their own websites/domains/blogs? It is the same information everywhere you go? Are you having a problem with bringing visitors back to your blog? Well, the easiest fix for that is to start creating unique content! Unique content is a variety of things and you might see multiple definitions. The easiest way that I personally understand it is that it addresses the following things:

  • content that is written on a topic that is within the writer's niche
  • content that is useful to its readers
  • content that is high quality in both grammar and subject
  • content that is branded by a person and is deemed as particularly special or unusual
It is hard to pinpoint unique content only because with the ever changing world of the internet, what may be deemed unique today may not be unique tomorrow. Many people that specialize in SEO will also concur that the ever changing Google algorithm will continue to change that unique content is and how it can be optimized on the web.

How To Create Unique Content

Creating unique content really is not that difficult. The single best way that I find works for a majority of people is to write it yourself. If you are into e-commerce or writing a blog, you always want to write about what you know. Become an "expert" in your field and specialize in something particular in your niche that people would love to read about. When your personality is able to shine through your writing, it will always catch someone's attention and make them come back for more!

Also, I recommend to do just a little bit of research on what people in your field are reading and learn about the key words that the internet loves. For example, go to Google and type in a topic that you would like to write about. Take a look at the words that Google is suggesting that you use to narrow down your topic.  Are you using these words in your writing? If not, you probably may want to think about it. The more words that match in your article to someone's search, the more likely that it will come up if they are browsing a search engine.

Another example. If you search in Google "Uvioo Scam Review" or any combination of those three words, my blog will be among the top searches. ( Yes, yes. I am proud of this feat! As of today, mine was the 7th website listed ) People that are just looking to see if the video-sharing website UvioO.com is a scam, my article is among one of those listed that people are able to look at. That article also has the most views and comments on my blog thus far.

Awesome, isn't it? Now imagine if anyone searching your topic could find you each and every time? How amazing would that be! Not only does it boost your business, it boosts your morale and even inspires you to do even better.

Well, I hope this helps you all! Leave a comment and share with your friends!

Improve Conversion to Your Website

You have finally mastered advertising your website and gotten down the correct marketing strategies! Yes! But you're still not making money. What are you doing wrong? Well, getting traffic is not the only thing you have to do to make sales. You have to be able to convert this traffic into sales by using small (and sometimes easily looked over) techniques to make your website even more user friendly. When your website has a more friendly user interface and the potential customer is not faced with information overload, they are more likely to browse your website and learn about the products and services that you have to offer.

Have Your Sign-Up Form on the Homepage. K-I-S-S.

I find that this is very uncommonly used by people that own their own websites and it baffles my mind to why you would not want to have your sign-up form on the home page of your site. Please, do not feel like you are begging for business. When you place your sign-up form on the homepage, it is more likely to be used. If your visitor decides that they like the way your site looks and what you have to offer, they are more likely to remember that the sign-up is on the page that they started from instead of having to click seven or eight different places.

My favorite phrase in the whole wide world is K-I-S-S: Keep It Simple, Stupid. The more simple something is and looks, the more likely the task will be completed by a visitor. You will only want your sign-up form to have a few fields. Many people will skip over forms that look like they are going to keep too much information. The easier it is to sign-up or subscribe, the more likely someone will be to use it.

Walk A Mile In Their Shoes: Be Skeptical

When you run an e-commerce website or use internet marketing in general, the most skeptic people are usually the ones that are going to convert. They are the visitors to your website that ask the following questions --
Will I like this product?
Do I need this product?
Are they going to spam me if I give them my information?
Is this site secure? Will they treat my information securely?
If I have a problem, will they be willing to help me resolve my issue?
When you are able to be skeptical about your own website, you should be able to easily answer these questions and questions like these to help ease the minds of buyers. You want to be able to creatively satisfy these concerns in your visitors in the same split second that they might be thinking about these questions.

One of the easiest ways to answer these questions should be right in the description of your product. Just a simple note when people subscribe to your mailing list that you will not spam, or a fun and easily read description can solve your problem. If you are selling a product, be as up-front and transparent about your prices as you can. If you are offering discounts, add the discount code at the beginner of user checkout. Include shipping and handling costs in the total cost of the item before the user places in the credit card info. Just some tips and tweaks to make your website more handy.

Use User Reviews and Testing to Your Benefit

The other big thing that people trust is other people. If you have a "Guest Book" section where people can rant and rave how spectacular (or less spectacular) the website is, there is more of a chance that a visitor will stay on your site. These honest and unbiased reviews will also be able to give you direction to how you can make your website better overall.

I do not recommend catering to each and every individual, but if there is a characteristic that is mentioned over and over again, then it is probably worth your attention.

I also recommend to use a user testing website to test the functionality and UI of your site. UserTesting.com and Userlytics.com are among the top websites that I have found that guarantee an increase in conversion when you use their product. To use these testing websites, you create some type of "test" to test the functionality of these websites. The websites will then send it to a specified panel of users (you can choose the demographic and geography of these tests) that will be able to test your website and give their open and honest feedback.

In the end, you will want to do what is best for you. Trial and error is the best way to figure out how to increase your conversion rates, and as always do your own research! Find what works best for people in your niche!
