Why why Friday!



Never settle for what someone tells you and always continued to ask why. I thought it would be fun to publish one of these every Friday. These are some of the questions that have perplexed me lately, and really make you wonder. 

Why does toilet bowl cleaner only come in blue?
Why are men's and women's shoe sizes different?
Why can you only get honey from plastic bears? Why not a plastic bee?
Why are numbers on a calculator and a phone reversed?
Why don't British people sound British when they sing?
Why do crackers have holes?
Why does a round pizza come in a square box?
Why do overalls have belt loops?
Why don't people say "it's only a game" when they're winning.
Why do we sing Rock-A-Bye baby to lull a baby to sleep when it's about putting a cradle in a tree and it comes crashing to the ground?
Why is vanilla ice cream white and vanilla extract is brown?
Why do doctors leave the room when you change if they're going to see you naked anyway?
Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?
Why do banks charge you a "insufficient funds fee" when they know you don't have any money?

Let those roll around in your brain!

Capture and Engage




Did you know that when you meet a person for the first time, it takes then 24 seconds for him to form an impression? Now, as a person that absolutely HATES to be talked at instead of talked to, I always think it is important to form a good first impression so that whomever you speak to will think of you as someone they would like to continue to converse with or even talk to their friends about.

The biggest thing that I like to encourage my team is to think quickly. Are you able to sell your product to someone in 10 seconds? The other 15 seconds that someone is making an impression they are reading your body language and facial expressions.The number one thing many people miss is they can tell you about all of the features that a product has to offer. Features are great, but why should this stranger become a potential customer? What are the BENEFITS that pertain to ME?

Let's try this. Write down 5 core services of your product (most people can do this in less than 5 seconds). Now, ask yourself is this what I sell or is this how it helps other people? I understand that it can be hard to distinguish the difference sometimes and sometimes a feature can double as a benefit.

For example, the product I sell is Motor Club of America. 
Feature: MCA will cover you for up to $2000 in attorneys fees 
Benefit: In case of an auto accident that goes to court, families on a budget will have less of a burden to pay their attorney. 




People would much rather make an emotional purchase than a logical one. When you can emphasize that they will not only be benefiting themselves, but their family as well, they are much more likely to purchase your product. 

The other thing that captures people is when you do not try to sell them on something, but you simply try to be personable. Have a conversation that is not about what you are trying to sell. If you appropriately capture someone's attention by simply complimenting the way they dress, asking how their day is going, or if even they enjoyed their holiday they will gain a better impression of you.

I know that when people approach me and ask me "DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE!? IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH! HERE IS 98 BROCHURES, BUY MY PRODUCT!" I simply give them a look similar to this (o_0); and walk away. So many people are turned off by salespeople that it is just not logical to do that anymore (unless you're in that type of environment, then go for it!).

Lastly, remember no is no. If someone does not respond to your comments, don't be rude. Just tell them "have a nice day" and walk away. What I like to do is just put a bug in their ear. Give them something to think about on their drive home or walk to the office. Tell them to ask their friends if they have ever heard anything and give them a business card. People will do their research if something comes up in their every day life. 

Remember, just think benefits! Put a pen to paper and come up with something that is appealing to yourself, your family, and your friends and the rest will come naturally!

People Are Sold By People

Have you been marketing online and people are willing to click on your links but they will not sign up for your program? The mistake that many people make are that they only promote the product, they do not promote themselves.

A very successful sales strategy is to SELL YOURSELF FIRST, then SELL THE BRAND. I have worked in call centers for theme parks for years, and this is the very first sales strategy that they will advise you of. Now, if multi-billion dollar companies are willing to teach that to their agents, then why can't you implement it in your sales?

First, it does take a bit more work to relate to people on a personal level. Many people really do want to be sold on what you have to offer, but they want to know that you are personally worth it. Why should they give their hard-earned money to a stranger when they have a friend on Facebook that they actually LIKE selling a similar product?

Secondly, marketing through the internet has made being personable a little difficult. There are some marketers that I have come in contact with that are only willing to converse by email or IM. Why not get a free service like Skype and let your leads/prospects know that you are who you say you are. Just like internet dating, your potential clients are taking a chance investing when all they know you by are words on a screen. Skype is the easiest (and probably most popular) way to video chat. Even Facebook has video chat capability! 


Third, follow up! Just because the person liked your product/service and purchased it doesn't mean that they may not change their mind. Having a conversation connects people and gives them more of an emotional connection to their product, than a logical one. The best buys are emotional buys, so learn about your customer and WHY they purchased the product. They are bound to know people that might feel the same way (or even have a more compelling feeling) to purchase your product, so why not gain those extra connections as well?

Social media makes it simple to connect to people, but remember a phone call or video chat for a few minutes can go a really long way and be meaningful to people!

Website Review: Traffic Swarm

Traffic Swarm is a website that I just happened to stumble upon during some training that I was going through with one of my associates. We were browsing the net for free sites that will increase your web traffic and this one came highly recommended in a MoneyMaker forum. (I will be doing a review on that forum at a later date). 

This website is free to members and will forward your links to all of the search engines for more probability of getting a hit by the millions of people are surfing the internet. It also has an internal "surf" engine where other members are encouraged to click on links to earn credits to their account that will let them enhance their advertisements. See! A nice capture page would come in handy here!


What I really enjoy about this website is that it gives you an "upgrade" option to go Pro which enhances the features of the site. Where free members are limited to 10 urls, Pro members are able to have unlimited. Going Pro also unlocked the affiliate option where you are able to get free webhosting, free bonus credits, as well as cash paid for referrals.

Another unique feature of the website is the LinkBox. This box is a widget that you are able to add to your websites that will display targeted links depending on the visitor to your site. When you add this feature to your website, the links that you advertise on Traffic Swarm are then added to the ever-growing database and will display in other people's Link Boxes! How cool is that!? Even more free advertising!

Now, since it is free how exactly does it work? The website currency is "credits" that run as the backbone of the system. Earning credits is super easy! Navigating to the Surf page, you receive between 1-1000 credits for each click. To activate your account you must have a minimum of 50 credits, and to achieve that it only took me about 15 minutes and about 30 clicks (most site values are 1-5). You can also earn "mystery credits" which just randomly appear in your bank, enter the TrafficSwarm Lottery, as well as refer other people to the website.

In the 24 hours that I have been part of this website I have earned 1400 credits with no effort at all! It also keeps statistics for your websites that are being displayed and will tell you how many displays and clicks that it has gotten which will let you keep track of everything!

I would recommend this website to everyone and anyone that I know that is trying to promote internet business! Easy to use and a fun community to be a part of!
